DLR is the German aeronautics and space research centre and works in the development of environmentally-friendly technologies to promote mobility, communication and security. The Institute of Propulsion Technology works in the interdisciplinary automated 3D design of engine components, aeroacoustic analysis and noise reduction technologies, and modeling of all processes in the whole engine. The Institute of Aerodynamics and Flow Technology works in the fields of aerodynamic and multidisciplinary design and analysis, development of aerodynamic and aeroacoustic codes, and overall aircraft design. DLR provides expertise for the complete technology chain.
WP 3.2, 4.5: Steady and unsteady CFD of turbo-machinery flow to the automatic optimisation of an OGV blade design advanced. Measurement of rotor-stator interaction modes. Analysis of fan broadband noise sources. Assessment of the investigated designs and validation of prediction tools against collected data. WP 1.2: Provide reference aircraft and constraints for propulsion technology development. Find sensitivities with respect to the developed technologies. Determine the impact of engine technology developments on the efficiency of the overall aircraft.
